The UK is leading the way with flexible working, compared to European counterparts, says a new report.
Research from Avaya showed 93 per cent of staff want to be able to engage in flexible working, but only a fifth of employers currently offer it on a daily basis.
These figures outperformed many other European firms.
Almost a third of employees went as far to say that if they could not work away from the office they would quit, with some thinking they are not being offered the practice despite their firm having the technology to do so.
The figures for flexible working, which include managed remote working, showed almost a third of managers think the practice would increase their firm's competitiveness.
In addition, three quarters of large firms offered flexibility, compared to 57 per cent of small to medium businesses.
Gerwyn Davies, policy advisor at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Rising, states rising costs and stress levels are leading to more people wanting to work remotely.
