London is the best place to have a business if the internet is used a lot, according to a new survey.
Research found people in London can get faster download speeds than anywhere else in the UK, with it being almost twice as fast as that of Wales and Northern Ireland.
The slowest speeds for businesses can be found in rural areas, due to a lack of cable and phone line access.
Andrew Ferguson, the editor of Thinkbroadband.com, said: "Ofcom says the digital divide doesn't exist. But the divide does exist in broadband speeds between those in dense urban areas and those in rural areas."
He added that there is still one or two per cent of the country which cannot access broadband services, which he said is "still quite a lot of people".
The average download speed in London is 4,460 kbps, with Northern Ireland's being 2,258 kbps.
It was recently reported that businesses based on the internet are not likely to be affected by the current economic downturn, reported the IDG news service.
