Firefox and Safari have dropped their market shares, but only by a small amount, according to Net Applications.
The data shows that Internet Explorer (IE) has gained on its market share for April, with it citing a massive online marketing campaign aimed at just IE users as the reason figures initially seemed more dramatic, reports ComputerWorld.
Vince Vizzaccaro, the executive vice-president of marketing at Net Applications, said the "extremely large" campaign skewed the month's results in IE's favour and took away from Firefox, Safari and Opera Software's browser, Opera.
Net Applications initial figures for April showed Firefox had dropped to 17 per cent, down 0.8 per cent from the previous month.
They also showed IE had risen from 74.8 per cent to 76 per cent, which was the first time since October last year it had gained ground.
However, the numbers have since been shown to be wrong, with Firefox dropping by just 0.07 per cent and IE gaining by 0.03 per cent, once the campaign had been taken into account.
